Franco was born on October 2, 1942 to the late Pasqualina and Francesco DeRose in Lattarico Comune Di Cosenza, Italy, born the only boy to his family of 3 sisters and loving parents. He would have many happy years in Italy and it would be here he would meet and marry the love of his life Giulia and together they would immigrate to the United States where they would raise their son Frank and Daughter Paola. Mr. DeRose was proud of his Italian heritage and equally proud to be an American. He talked fondly of his upbringing in Italy and of the opportunities this country gave to him and the life he was able to provide for his family. Franco was a dedicated family man, he was a pillar of strength to his family and although he was sick for many years his stubbornness outweighed his ailments. On his good days he could be found making friends with anyone who crossed his path, chatting up fellow customers at the grocery store or talking to the neighbors, on his bad days he could still be famously seen giving a thumbs up and when asked how he was doing he would always reply by saying he was ½ and ½, and telling doctors he was made of steel. He lived life to the fullest. He loved taking pictures of his family and taking his luck to the Off Track Betting and lotto. He could be found in his favorite chair with his trusted side kick Bailey, who was never far from his side. Franco was proud to become a grandfather and this was possibly his most treasured role. Family and friends will miss his larger than life personality, the love he gifted them and his ability to be a friend to all. Franco is survived by his loving wife of over 54 years Giulia. As well he is survived by his adoring children his son Frank DeRose and daughter in law Lisa of New York and his daughter Paola DiFuccia and son in law Riccardo of New York. In addition he is survived by his three precious grandchildren Francesco, Daniella and Isabella. He is also survived by his sister Nilla Arena of Italy. He is predceased by his sisters Anna Federico and Rosetta DeRose.
