On Saturday, May 11, 2019, Frances Ann (Myhand) Cox, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at age 85. Ann was born on February 28, 1934 in Pine Mountain, Georgia to James and Frances (Satterwhite) Myhand. She received a B.S. in nursing from Emory University in August of 1955. Ann married John Thomas Cox after graduation in October of 1955. She began her career teaching nursing in Columbus until John Thomas was transferred to the Fairburn area. She began working for the Fulton County Health Department and later South Fulton Hospital in the maternity ward. Later she chose to make a career change to occupational nursing with Dobbs House Catering Company and retired from Delta Airlines in October 1992. They raised three beautiful children and five grandchildren. Her grandchildren loved their “Mamie” and she made each one feel special. Ann is preceded in death by her father, James, mother, Frances and son-in-law Lee Wells. She is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, John Thomas Cox, her brother, Jimmy (Sue Ellen) Myhand, her children, Carol Wells, Doug (Julie) Cox, Jan (Todd) Franks, her five grandchildren, Jeremy (Lindsey) Franks, Sarah (Taylor) Weddle, Caitlin (Charles) Ball, Caroline Cox, John Cox, and her first great-grandchild due in July. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 3pm with the family receiving visitors an hour before the service at Parrott Funeral Home 8355 Senoia Rd, Fairburn, GA with Dr. Jay Hodges officiating.
