Frances Ann Adams Vann April 2 1949 May 25 2019

Frances Ann Adams Vann died on Saturday May 25, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home. Ann was born on April 2, 1949 in Pelham, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Carroll Palmer Adams and Dorothy “Dot” Fain Adams. Her siblings are Carroll Kipling “Kip” Adams (Cindy) and their sons, Blake Kipling Adams of Atlanta, GA and Mills Davis Adams of San Francisco, CA, and her brother William Fain Adams of Atlanta, GA. She leaves her spouse of 47 years Richard S. Vann and their 2 children, Richard “Rich” S. Vann, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Laura Ann Vann Charlton (Rylan) of Tampa, Florida. She was blessed with 3 grandchildren Cupples Corry Vann, Knox Palmer Charlton and Cruz Vann Charlton. Ann was a 1967 graduate of Mitchell County High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. She graduated from Valdosta State University in 1972 with a degree in Math Education. While at VSU she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority and was a KA Rose. Ann taught math for over 2 decades, beginning at Brookwood School and later at Thomas County Middle School. She concluded her career at McIntyre Park Middle School. Many of her students attribute their later success in life to the math foundation Ann created for them. Ann was a member of the Rambler Rose Garden Club. She also tutored at the Thomas County Resource Center. Ann had an infectious smile and a very sweet demeanor and a love for family; particularly her children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time at the family farm, Docwood, at the beach, in the mountains, and playing bridge with her friends. She never lost close contact with her dear sorority sisters from VSU. Ann was courageous and uncomplaining despite her circumstances and was a great example to all on how to live a life. She will be profoundly missed by so many. A private family ceremony will precede an 11 o’clock service at First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville on Wednesday May 29, 2019. A reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow the service. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, May 28, 2019 from 5:00-7:00PM.
