Floyd Laughrun, 93, of Jacks Creek, went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 20, 2019, at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Luke and Ethel Honeycutt Laughrun. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Jack Laughrun, Mary L. Miner, twin brothers: Roy and Ray Laughrun, and Betty Jo Hatfield. Floyd was a veteran of both the US Army and the US Air Force. After serving his country, he spent his life on the family farm. Surviving are sisters: Anna Lou Hughes and husband, Farrell, of Burnsville and Wanda Hope Laws of Morrow, GA; and, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Thursday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Horton Hill. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 2PM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
