Fannie’s Obituary Fannie Marie Perkins Reddix (age 82) was born in Bogalusa, LA in 1937, and was the oldest daughter of Rev. John and Rhoda James Perkins. As a life-long resident of New Orleans, LA, she passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2019. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Southern University, Baton Rouge and Masters of Science in Education from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN During her professional career, she was an outstanding educator and served as a high school teacher in business education in Caddo, St. Charles and Orleans Parish public school systems. While serving in Orleans parish she taught at Warren Eastern and Cohen High schools where she also served as Chair of the Business Education Department, faculty advisor for the Future Business Leaders of America and Cooperative Education Program. She was also an adjunct professor at Southern University at New Orleans. She retired from the Orleans Parish School System in 1997. Fannie Reddix lived the life of a Servant in her community, church, civic, and social organizations. Passionately, she served God’s people at Mount Zion United Methodist Church as an active member of the choir, and United Methodist Women (president and other capacities). With a strong belief in the mission of the United Methodist Women, she held several positions at the local, district, state, and national levels for more than 60 years. Her personal commitment to empowering youth through education was evident by her active membership in The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Alpha Theta Chapter. One of her greatest treasures was her status as a “Golden” Soror of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (current chapter: Alpha Beta Omega) serving more than 50 years. Fannie Reddix was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Alphredia Patin and Catherine McDaniel. Surviving family members include her husband of 59 years, Dr. Roscoe C. Reddix, Sr., two daughters: Roslyn M. Terrell (Marlon, Sr.), Dr. Rhoda A. Reddix and son: Roscoe C. Reddix, Jr., three brothers: John Perkins (Sandra), Charles Perkins (Boylingston), and Peter Perkins, sisters-in-law, Rowena Reddix and Jaqueline Hawkins, four grandchildren, Marlon Terrell Jr. (Jenae), Myles Terrell, Elizabeth C. Anderson (Malcolm), and Miya Terrell, great-grandchildren, Marlon, III, Maxwell and Mason Terrell. She leaves to cherish fond memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 2722 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA, 70115 on Friday May 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a. m.
