EVELYN FAYE ROBERTS, 92 of Grant, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home. Evelyn was born February 3, 1927, in Oshkosh to Delbert D and Lela LaRue (Caton) Steger. Evelyn married Jack Roberts on January 27, 1946, in St. Francis, Kansas. Their union was blessed with five children. She had been a resident of Ogallala for 68 years until she moved to Golden Ours Convalescent Home 2 years ago. Evelyn enjoyed caring for children, not only her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren but others in her home for additional income. Sometimes it was without pay, but that was ok because of her love for children. She also loved embroidering in which she made many baby blankets for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all else, she loved The Lord. She often spoke at the nursing home about how God was taking care of her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; two brothers; two sisters; a son, Raymond E. Roberts and a daughter, Diana (Roberts) Fricke. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela (Mark) Spurgin of Ogallala; two sons, Jerry (Lori) Roberts of North Platte; Richard Roberts of Ogallala; fourteen grandchildren, Raymond Eugene, Tammy, Chuck, Nellie, Derek, Christi, Jeff, Shawn, Stacey, Dustin, Joshua, Heather, Jordan and Chelsea; sister, Marjorie Schaffer of Coos Bay, OR; sister-in-law, Paige Cady of Louisville, CO and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home, Perkins County Health Services of Grant in Evelyn’s memory. Services will be Monday, April 29, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Prairie Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Tschetter officiating. Burial will be in the Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen, NE. Visitation will be Sunday the 28th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Prairie Hills Funeral Home. Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
