Elisa Nunez November 14 1935 May 4 2019 (age 83)

Elisa Nunez of Romeoville, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Born November 14, 1935 in the Philippines, Elisa was a daughter of Miguel and Angela (Pena) Gonzales. She was raised and educated in the Philippines and obtained a bachelor’s degree to pursue a career in medical technology. She worked as a medical technologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for over 26 years. On January 31, 1965, Elisa married Juan Nunez, Jr., and together they made their home and raised their daughter. Elisa loved to sing and enjoyed singing with her church group and performing at the Grand Haven Community Center. She also enjoyed classical music and attending the opera. Elisa was a great cook and was known for her custard, which was always a hit during the holidays. Her most treasured times were always spent with family. Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn; grandchildren: Ashley and John Furtek and brothers, Jesse and Lito Gonzales. Elisa is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 45 years, Juan. Family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. Following services, Elisa will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
