Eithel’s Obituary Eithel Irene Woods Schwinger passed on May 3. 2019 at the age of 96 years from complications of a recently diagnosed tumor. Born and raised on a farm near Broughton, Kansas, she attended the Broughton School and the Clay Center High School. Preceded in death by her parents Lydia Ellen Dalrymple Woods and James William Woods, brothers Harold and Charley, sister Wilma, husband William Schwinger, first husband, Ernest Albin Johnson and Great-Granddaughter Kacie Mireya Johnson. She is survived by her children Karen Ellen Johnson and Harold (Hal) Ernest Johnson, grandchildren Laura and Matthew and great-grandchildren, Damon, William and Langstynn and nephews and nieces. She was proud of her service as a nurse’s aide for many years, providing loving care for elders. She was dedicated to her family, took delight in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and reader, needle worker and quilter, enjoyed fishing and playing cards. She was beloved by all who met her with a deep sense of inclusivity that welcomed all people into her circle. She was committed to the responsibilities of citizenship and stewardship of the earth, recycling since the 1960s, keeping up with the news and voting throughout her life. She will be missed and forever loved. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 7, 2019 at the Countryside Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas Burial to follow in the Broughton Cemetery.
