Obituary for Dorothy Kindel (Babcook) Dorothy Kindel, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed from this world on May 21, 2019. Born in Laredo, Texas in 1943, Dorothy fondly reflected on the years she spent attending the Berea Foundation School at Berea College. After excelling in her career as a Facilities Technician at GTE and raising her family in Coeur d’Alene, ID she returned to Berea. There she spent many happy years with her late husband Merlin, and members of her immediate and extended family. Dorothy enjoyed singing in the choir at Lutheran Church of the Master in Coeur d’Alene, Sunday services at Union Church in Berea, summer boating activities and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an accomplished baker and had a gift for making birthdays and holidays extra special. She was an enthusiastic and dedicated cheerleader at her daughters’ and son’s basketball and soccer games. She loved to travel and especially cherished the many cruises she took with Merlin. Together they explored Australia, Europe, Asia and many other exotic destinations during their marriage. Of her many accomplishments, she was proud to learn from the Kentucky Blood Center that her donation of 20 gallons of blood helped save the lives of 480 Kentucky patients. Dorothy is survived by daughter, Dawn Manor, her husband Michael Manor, grandsons, Connor Haus and Alex Manor, daughter Alicia Diefenbach, son Chris Haus, granddaughter Mykaela Haus, and brother Robert Plowman. A memorial service will be held at Lakes Funeral Home on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 2pm. Lakes Funeral Home is located at 203 N. Dogwood Dr. in Berea.
