Doris’ Obituary Doris A. Davis, age 90, of Verona passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born on April 25, 1928 in Verona to her parents George and Katherine (Maurer) Doerfer. Doris attended the Andrew Henry School and graduated from Verona High School in 1946. On January 12, 1952 she was united in marriage to Robert E. Davis at St. James Lutheran Church in Verona. In addition to being a mother, homemaker, and farm wife Doris worked at Ray-O-Vac and then later at the Mt. Vernon Telephone Company (TDS) until retiring in 1993. She was a lifelong member of the St. James Lutheran Church and was active in the Women’s Circle. Doris was a talented embroiderer especially the Hardanger style. Doris is survived by her husband Robert, children Alton (Ann) Davis, Katherine (Paul) Probst, Mark Davis, and Paul Davis, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister Joyce Hermanson and sisters-in-law Ruth Davis and Esther Sarbacker. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jean Hanson, brother Richard Doerfer, and a daughter-in-law Kathleen Davis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. James Lutheran Church, 427 S. Main St., Verona, WI with the Rev. Peter Narum officiating. Burial will be in the Verona Cemetery. A visitation will precede the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the church. The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the St. James Lutheran Church. Read More
