Donna Alred Hamner December 4 1931 May 19 2019 (age 87)

Donna Alred Hamner, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice (Trellis) Home. She was born on December 4, 1931 to Elmer and Mildred Alred in Roodhouse, IL. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Nicholas Dawson Hamner. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Alred Hamner; her son, Nicholas Degge Hamner and wife Sandy. Donna was a devoted wife and mother. Later, she became active in the Pilot Club International Service Organization and served as an officer in various roles at the highest level of the North Carolina District. The family wishes to thank her friends for their support over the years. Also, thank you to: The staff at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living from 2017 to 2019; the Acute Palliative Care Unit at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their compassionate support. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 24, 2019 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church in Lewisville, NC by Rev. Greg Freeman. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. (Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel)
