Dianne’s Obituary Dianne Marie Durko, age 74 a longtime Hobart resident passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019. She was born on July 10, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Steve and Olga Cvetetic. She was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in New Chicago for many years. Dianne excelled at track and field at Emerson High School in Gary and prided herself on even practicing once with Wilma Rudolph. She was a bonded messenger for First National Bank until she co-founded East Ridge Road Coin Shop with her husband at the time….George Durko. The family business was renamed Video Palace in 1986, which she owned from 1996-2006. She will always be remembered as a loving, compassionate and attentive sister, mother, wife, aunt and grandmother. Her friends were drawn to her strong faith in God, her charitable work ethic and her hilarious sense of humor. Her favorite time of year was always the Holidays and celebrated by going to Mass and devotions, decorating and cooking til her heart was content. The most important thing her family and friends will remember is her unbridled generosity. She is survived by two sons, Gregory Durko of Crown Point, IN; Steven (Meghan) Durko of Gainesville, FL; one brother, Steve M. Cvetetic of South Daytona, FL; three grandchildren, Marisa, Jack-Christian, and Elee Durko, two nieces, Michelle Doyle of Detroit, MI; Sandra (Deb Wright) Woodworth of Chesterton, IN; great-niece, Alexis Doyle, and former husband, George Durko of Hobart, IN. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister in 2018, Linda Anne Woodworth, grandparents, Milan and Barbara Cvetetic, Stepan and Rosalie Loyen and Kuma Nada. Funeral services are Monday June 3, 2019 beginning with 9:15 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage and proceeding to Assumption BVM Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.
