He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age in Dallas, Texas and he also received his formal education in the Dallas Independent School District. He later attended the Mansfield Business College. On April 30, 2019, God decreed His call for Darryl Shane Owens, Sr. to come home and take his rest. Those left to cherish his loving memory: wife of 20 years, Janie Owens; sons, Darryl S. Owens, Jr and De’mon Owens; daughter, Ava Diles (Dre); brothers, Jessie Taylor, Sr. (Cathy) and Rodney Owens (Kaye); sisters, Virginia Robertson and Diane Spencer; 2 grandsons; 4 granddaughters and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
