Darlene was the oldest of three children born on December 6, 1958 to John Willis Anderson, Sr., who proceeded her in death, and Doris Richardson Young. She began her Christian walk at an early age, at West End Hill M.B. Church. She later joined the Greater St. John M.B. Church, where she was a devoted member until her death on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Darlene was a dedicated member of the choir, and had a special love for the youth of Greater St. John. For many years, Darlene was the chairperson of the Community Christmas Shop Ministry, until her health began to fail. She had a kind heart and served others however she could. Darlene was a great mother, and she loved Lela with all her heart. Family was very important to her, and she was loved dearly by her family and friends. She was the event planner, organizer, and number one card player of the family. Darlene will be forever missed. Beautiful memories of her kind heart, sweet smile, and her perfect afro linger in the hearts and minds of her family and friends. Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Doris R. Young; a daughter, Lela Vail; Lela’s father, Bobby Vail; two brothers, John Willis (Deborah) Anderson, Jr., Flash (Angela) Gardner; a sister, Gloria (Patrick) Turner; 3 grandsons, Raleigh Alexander Vail, Zion Cortez Vail, and Tashomba Laterrious Sykes, Jr. She will also be remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many dear friends. favorite_border Donations Pledges
