Clara’s Obituary Clara Mae, the eighth of eight siblings, was born August 28, 1954 to Annie Chism and Flavius Hunter, in Memphis, TN. Clara Mae confessed her hope in Christ at Enon Spring Baptist Church at the age of 12 years, under the leadership of the late Rev. B. L. Bess. She joined the fellowship at Eureka Truevine under the leadership of Rev. Frederick D. Tappan, Sr., and continued to stream live after her health began to fail. Clara was a 1973 graduate of Mitchell High School, where she was active with the Boosters Club and Les Etoiles. She was a Girl Scout for many years. Clara worked several jobs, eventually retiring from FedEx in Memphis, TN. Clara Mae was loving and strong willed, kind and compassionate. She always found a girl to embrace as her own and spoil them rotten. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Alfred Charles Chism (AC) and Eddie Lee Galloway, Sr.. On Monday April 29, God saw that one of his faithful servants had become weary, so he took her up in his arms and gave her sweet rest. Her essence is now our fond memories. Precious memories of Clara Mae will be cherished forever by her son Reginald Bernard Chism of Memphis; great-niece Ericka Chism whom she raised as her own daughter; two sisters, Hattie Mae Chism of Memphis, and Bobbie Jean Moore of St. Louis; three brothers, Willie Chism of St. Louis, Johnnie Chism and J. B. Chism (Clara) of Memphis; niece Annie Chism-Conway (LaShalle) her friend and loving caregiver; god-daughter Anquanette Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
