Charles Lee Mashburn June 1 1942 May 11 2019

Charles Lee Mashburn, age 76, passed away peacefully in his home amidst the love of his family on May 11, 2019. Charles lived a singular and remarkable life that has left a legacy of honesty, integrity, fidelity, devotion, commitment, gentility, cordiality, understatement, and selflessness. Charles was a gentleman in every sense of the word. Generations of his family will call him blessed for his example. Charles was born on June 1, 1942 in Tampa, Florida to Carol Eunice Stover Mashburn and Albert Lee Mashburn. Charles graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He loved everything and anything related to his beloved Florida Gators. Prior to college, Charles served in the United States Air Force. After graduation, Charles worked for the Internal Revenue Service, and then joined the United States Navy. He retired from the Navy as a warrant officer in 1993. Part of his service included combat in Operation Praying Mantis. Charles loved his country and he loved the camaraderie he found in the military. He had a tremendous impact for good on the many young sailors who served under him. Following his retirement from the Navy, Charles worked at Utah Valley University as an account finance manager for fifteen years. Charles had many interests and hobbies. He was a voracious reader and learner, instilling a love for education in his family. He enjoyed movies, motorcycles, good food, Disney World, and target shooting. Most of all he enjoyed supporting any and all activities his son and daughter were involved with. His hobbies and interests always took a second seat to his family. There was no doubt in his family members’ minds that they were always his priority. And number one above all else was his wife, whom he absolutely adored. Their relationship was one-of-a-kind, with a love, devotion, and care for each other that was unparalleled. Charles is survived by his wife, Kathleen Marie Raper, his children, Martin Wesley Mashburn (Janine), Stephanie Kay Blackwell (Craig), his grandchildren Kaitlyn Bosco (Dallin), Alyssa Miller (Logan), Chad Wesley Mashburn, Brooke Mashburn, Colton Alan Blackwell, Malia May Blackwell, his great grandsons, Graham Bradley Miller and Owen Louis Bosco, and his sisters Fran Jenkins (Randy) and Connie Liverseidge (Tim).
