Carolyn Novinger June 09 1963 May 26 2019

Carolyn’s Obituary Carolyn Elaine Novinger 55 of Prairie Village KS passed away unexpectedly May 26, 2019 at Northeast Regional Hospital Kirksville, MO. As per Carolyn’s desires her organs were donated to help others. She was born June 9, 1963 in Macon MO the daughter of Gail H and Mary F (Johnson) Novinger. She spent her early childhood on the family farm in the Chariton River Bottom east of Ethel MO. Her energetic personality drove her to keep up with her older siblings, even at a young age. In 1967 the family moved to a farm northwest of Kirksville where her parents still reside. Carolyn is survived by her parents, her siblings James Novinger and wife Lanna, Mark Novinger and fiancée Marla Coin, Jane Ann and husband Dr Lindall Perry, seven nieces and nephews and one great niece. Also surviving her are aunt and uncle Marjorie E(Johnson) and James E Cox, and many of her fun loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, several loving aunts and uncles. Carolyn accepted Christ as her Savior in the First Presbyterian Church in Kirksville. Her relationship with the Lord has been steadfast. Carolyn graduated in 1981 from Kirksville High School where she had been active in academics and sports, as well as Band’s Drum Major and President of the Student Council. She furthered her education with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Missouri Columbia. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Farm House Little Sisters and several vocational organizations. In 1986 she moved to Dallas Texas as an engineer for Texas Instruments in the development and manufacturing of night vision weapons for the military. In 1989 she became a consultant with EDS in Plano Texas. As the use of the internet increased, implementing it as a part of the business models of companies all over the US became a large part of what Carolyn enjoyed. In the late 1990’s accounting firm Ernst and Young sought her skills as a manager, where she managed projects in the US, Canada and Europe. This job enabled Carolyn to move to the Kansas City area, closer to her parents and the family farm. She was working in Washington DC on 9/11. In 2007 Carolyn decided to slow down her travels, she started coming back to Kirksville weekly to become involved in the family farming operation and managed Kirksville Apartment Rentals Inc for her Mom and Dad. The technical skills she had shared with others became an important asset to both family businesses. From the daily grind of college students moving in and out of apartments, to organizing and doing accounting, to making major management decisions she played a key role in the family business. She maintained her home in Prairie Village KS and enjoyed her weekly hiatus back to the city where she enjoyed time with close friends and making her home her pride and joy. She has been active in the local Ann Haynes DAR chapter for several years. Carolyn was energetic, with a very unsuspecting wit. She could prepare a Thanksgiving meal and clean the kitchen with same efficiency as formulating an Excel spread sheet for every situation. In so many ways she was shy, but never afraid to use her God given dimples, contagious smile, dark brown eyes and hair to make you feel like you wanted to be her friend. She loved people, loved making them smile and loved doing things that pleased others. Whether its vocationally or emotionally she will be sadly missed but none more than by her best friend, her Mom. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00pm Friday May 31, 2019 at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday June 1, 2019 with Carrol Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Carolyn’s nieces and nephews Austin, Andrew, Alan, Kyle, and Laura Perry along with Brooke and Grant Novinger. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization of the giver’s choice. Read More
