He was a long time resident of Franklin. Richard was born on January 6, 1944 to Carl and Tillie (Sandefur) Isley in Salem, Oregon. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Hunt) Isley; children, Carl Richard Isley, Jr. (Tina) and Christiana Isley; step-children, Lisa Hovey (Rich) and Christopher Johnson (Shelby); grandchildren, Brooke Isley-Clay Taylor (Damon); Sydney, Logan, Hannah, Lincoln, and Fenna; brother, Donald (Wynette) Isley; niece, Karen and nephew, James. Richard was preceded in passing by his parents and his son, Charlton Ronald Isley. Richard graduated from Whiteland Community High School. He attended Purdue University. He went on to work as a funeral director after his graduation from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. He retired from General Motors, working for Rolls Royce at the time of retirement. He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church. Richard was very active in the church and loved his church family. He served on the Board of Directors; as a Deacon and served on various committees through the years. He was a 50 plus year member of the Masonic Lodge. Richard and his wife Linda had a passion for raising and showing miniature schnauzers for over twenty-five years. They were very proud of their dogs that they bred and showed. Richard and Linda met many show friends and enthusiasts all over the country throughout the years. Their dogs were not just show dogs, they were members of their family. Richard was a longtime member of the American Miniature Schnauzers Club and was Past President of the Central Indiana Kennel Club. Richard and Linda loved traveling the country in their motor home with their dogs. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on home projects and writing his life stories and funny outlooks on his blog. Rev. Evie Stuard will conduct a Celebration of Richard’s life on Tuesday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Monday, June 3, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
