C Delbert Champion September 1 1926 May 15 2019 (age 92)

C. Delbert Champion, 92, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Sienna Skilled Nursing. He was born September 1, 1926, in Bergholz, OH, a son of the late Charles E. and Mary (Hackathorn) Champion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dona (Rowe) Champion; step-son, John William Gersna; twin brother, Charles âBobã Champion; sisters, Margie Smith, Nancy Owens and Carol Boudler; and step-brother, Laverne Champion. Delbert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in the Counterintelligence Unit stationed in Japan. He was a member of the New Somerset Christian Church. Delbert was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and wildlife enthusiast. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Bob) Rawson, with whom he lived in Mellwood, Toronto, OH; son, Scott (Glenda) Champion of Irondale, OH; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson, Nathan Wood. Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz, on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. and again on Monday from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rob Minto officiating.
