Brenda Darlene was born on March 2, 1944 to Oliver Kenneth and Alma Ferguson in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Brenda was the third child born to Kenneth and Alma, following Sharon Kay and Kenneth Richard. Brenda graduated from Blanchard High School in 1961. During high school Brenda played basketball with the Blanchard Lions and was the pianist for Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Brenda’s one true love, her son Troy Anthony was born in December of 1963 to Brenda and Danny Clanton. Brenda was a dedicated mother first and foremost and her love grew in bounds as she watched her family grow by 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Known to her family as Mother, Mama, and Grandma, she made a special bond, as her love was personal and beautiful with each of her kids. Brenda retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 2004, where she had worked for 20 plus years, starting out as a secretary and then working on Benson B-12 aircraft as a sheet metal mechanic and ending her career in programming. She spent her retirement assisting her mother until she passed in 2010 and then every opportunity with her son and grandchildren even moving to Texas in 2015 to be closer to them. During her final days Brenda’s last words were to her son when she replied to him, “oh son, I love you too”, her last time to open her eyes were to her son when he wished her a Happy Mother’s Day. And on the morning of May 16th, Brenda Darlene Clanton went peacefully to be with the Lord surrounded by her family whether in presence, prayers and love. It was beautiful ending to a beautiful life. Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, father and brother. She is survived by her son, Troy Clanton; four grandchildren Garrett McClendon and wife Krysty, Lauren Morrison and husband Micheal, Jessica Jeter and husband Kris, and Auston Tyler Clanton and wife Jillian; 10 great-grandchildren Austin, Cayden, Kiley, Gavin and Kynlee McClendon, Corban Morrison, Jase and Gage Jeter, and Isabella and Savannah Clanton; sister-in-law, Sue Ferguson, sister, Sharon Matheny and husband Larry; and extended family, Brett and Tamara Clanton and sons; Ann Russell, her son Keenan Russell and Wimp White; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
