Winston-Salem – Mr. Billy Ray Woosley, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on August 11, 1942 in Forsyth County to Thomas Avery and Ruth Aleen Woosley. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he was an Embassy Guard in Switzerland. Billy was a Sr. Police Officer for the Winston-Salem Police Department. He retired on July 1, 1992. He was a loving father, grandfather, and partner. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Woosley. He is survived by his son, Brien Woosley; his partner, Teresa Oakley; grandson, Chase Woosley; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best buddies, Gus and Herb. A memorial service for Billy will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Roger F. Tise, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either, No Kid Hungry at, Share Our Strength, P.O.
