Billy’s Obituary Billy Roger McCurry, 71, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019, at his home on Padre Island Corpus Christi, Texas, after a five-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Born Jan. 21, 1948, in Walnut to William K. McCurry and Ruth C. Gilliland, he was raised on the family dairy farm in rural Parsons. He attended Labette County High School, graduating in 1966. Bill managed his father’s Conoco station and later joined the local fire department until an injury forced him to retrain. He graduated from Labette Community College as a registered nurse. This eventually led him to Kansas City, where he worked for the K.C. Health Department until retirement in 2012. Bill leaves his partner, Larry Mulholland; a daughter, Kristi McCurry (Jessica) of Cheney; a son, Matthew McCurry (Andrea) of Wichita; a sister, Marilyn O’Brien (Denny) of rural Parsons; grandchildren, Lexi and Grayson; as well as nieces/nephews, Lori Meyers (Scott), Emily, Amy, Andy (Carrie), Ashley, Aron, Kayla, Sean and Jordon O’Brien. Graveside service and burial of cremains will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Springhill Cemetery Patio. Read More
