Betty Lou Harris, age 80 of Searcy, died Monday, May 20, 2019 in Searcy. She was born June 26, 1938 in Higginson to Taylor Wilson Merritt and Edra Inez Merritt. She was a home maker and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Kenneth Harris; one son, Randall Kenneth Harris and wife Brenda; one daughter, Pamela Renee Taylor and husband Rusty; one brother, William D. Merritt and wife Carolyn; two sisters, Nancy Davis and husband Bob, Ann Merritt; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Inez Merritt; and one brother, Douglas Merritt. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home with interment to follow at Gum Springs Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to Arkansas Hospice of Searcy.
