Bernice G. Woertz, of Antigo, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at The Bay at Eastview. She was 97 years old. She was born April 23, 1922 in Waukegan, IL, daughter of the late Victor and Ann (Rimkus) Racas. She married Herman Woertz in Waukegan on October 12, 1941 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death. She was a 1940 graduate of Waukegan Township High School. She was employed as a checker at Chicago A&P and Family Shoe Store. After moving to Antigo, she worked at Hunter’s Grocery for 22 years. Mrs. Woertz was president of the Langlade County Senior Club, and active with LeRoyer Hospice. She enjoyed making ceramics. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and was active in the Rosary Society. Survivors include a son, John (Rose) Woertz of Antigo; a daughter Kris Bierbauer of Harshaw; 2 sisters, Helen Balen of Waukegan, IL, and Dorothy Brant of Florida; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Woertz; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 7.   1. My name is Charles (Chuck) Woertz. My father was William Woertz (1983) ,Herman Woertz brother. I remember Aunt Bernice Uncle Herm and John, Richard and Kris when they lived downstairs of us on Estes ave in Chicago in the 1950s. They moved to Wisconson in the 1960s we moved to California in the 1970s. We lost contact after Dad died. I,m sorry to hear about Bernice. I,ll tell my brothers.
