Andres Colon, 93, a resident of Lawrence, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 10, 1926, to Gregorio Colon and Ecolastica Rosario. He was born & educated in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. Having moved to the United States in 1973, he worked as a Carpenter for various contractors until his retirement. According to his family he had a huge sense of humor, and that he had a different outlook on life and also took everything with a grain of salt, and that this is why he had lived for so long. He also loved to take long walks and enjoyed to listen to music. He is the husband of the late Generosa Colon, and is survived by his children: son Andres Colon, Jr. of Puerto Rico, daughter Daysis Colon of Ciales, PR, son Nicanor Colon of Malden, MA, son Luis Colon of Miami, FL, daughter Altagracia Colon of Methuen, daughter Maria Colon of Miami, FL, son Jose Colon of Florida, PR, son Edgardo Colon of Barnstable, MA, daughter Jeniffer Colon of Lawrence, 43 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren, Two sisters; Paulina and Olga Colon both of Puerto Rico, as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Anibal Colon. A funeral mass will be celebrated in his name on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10:00AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence, 300 Haverhill St. Lawrence, MA. A burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lawrence.
