Allan M. Comer 84 of Hillsboro passed away May 1, 2019 at Memorial Medical center in Springfield. He was born April 19, 1935 in Hillsboro to Kenneth and Roberta (Dukes) Comer. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was a veteran in the US Army serving from 1957-1959. He worked at Propellex Corp., in Donnellson and retired as a certified Coal Mine Examiner. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, where he helped with Vacation Bible School and building bird houses with the children, he enjoyed fishing, gospel music and gardening. He was a member of the NRA and Illinois State Police association. He had a special friend Mildred Hitt and then for over 44 years Esther Colyer. He is survived by one daughter Alicia Francine Renae Crump-Comer of Greenville, 2 grandchildren Aaron and Serigo and 4 Great grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild on the way, and his dog Tommy. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers David, Dale and Robert “Bob” comer and one sister Marjorie Akers. Funeral services will be Monday May 6, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St James Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. James Hayes officiating, visitation will be from12:00 PM until service time at the church. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery in Hillsboro. Grave side military rites will be provided by VFW Post 1306 of Taylor Springs and Irving American Legion Post 425. Memorials can be directed to St. James Baptist church.
