Wilbur’s Obituary Wilbur Fate Legg, 72, of 1380 NC 137, Eure, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was surrounded by his family. Mr. Legg was born in Gates County on September 18, 1946, and was the son of the late Edgar and Dorothy Eure Baines. Retired from International Paper in Franklin, he had worked there for 42 years in pipefitting, maintenance, and in data processing. A member and Deacon of Cool Spring Baptist Church, he was an Honorary Member of the Eure Volunteer Fire Department, and had served in the Virginia National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donnie Baines. Surviving are his wife of over 51 years, Pauline Monds Legg; a daughter, Crystal L. Perry and husband, Bracey, of Eure; two sons, Jeff Legg and wife, Erika, of Eure, and Dwayne Legg of Windsor; a brother, J. Eddie Baines and wife, Lisa, of Eure; and four grandchildren, Morgan, Grace, Abigail, and Gunner. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Joe McKnight and Wade Bennett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cool Spring Baptist Church, in care of Merwin Bauerle, 460 US 13 South, or to the Eure Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 10, both in Eure, NC 27935.
