Virginia Louise Monahan 2019

Virginia Louise Monahan, 87, of Maryville, Illinois passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville. She was born September 23, 1931 in Thebes, Illinois, a daughter of the late Leo and Hazel (Laird) Rudluff. She married Eugene “Gene” Monahan on June 5, 1948 in Olive Branch, Illinois and he passed away on September 3, 2000. She was a faithful and dedicated homemaker whom cherished taking care of her family. She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Debbie) Monahan of Nashville, Tennessee and Bruce (Lisa) Monahan of Troy, Illinois; four grandchildren, Todd (Julie) Monahan, Bart (Amy) Klindt, Cody Monahan and Amber Monahan; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Vicky Hill of Florida and Donna Tarr of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two brothers, Hubert Rudluff of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Rusby Rudluff of McClure, Illinois; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Klindt; a sister, Celeste Rolfs and two brothers, Michael and Roger Rudluff. In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the Oasis Women’s Center in Alton and may be accepted at the funeral home.
