Mrs. Velma M. Cross, 90, of Galesburg passed away at 11:25 am Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Knoxville Courtyard Estates, Knoxville, Illinois. She was born December 28, 1928 in Williamsfield, Illinois the daughter of Burt and Lucy Matteson Daniels. She married Palmer Cutcher. She later married Clair Cross on May 15, 1971 in Williamsfield, Illinois. He preceded her in the death October 29, 2011. Velma is survived by a sister, Bev Tucker of Williamsfield, three grandchildren, Tina (and Chad) Ponder of Knoxville, Tony Daniels and Traci (and Tyler) Lannholm both of Galesburg; six great grandchildren, Doug, Lexi, Will, Clara, Trenton and Justin. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Gary Daniels and Perry Cutcher, two brothers, a sister and a daughter-in-law, Pam Daniels. Velma attended Williamsfield High School. She worked for Northgate Lanes for over 30 years. Besides working at the bowling alley she enjoyed bowling in leagues. She loved camping with her husband. After her husband’s death, she loved going on trips to Branson, Missouri with her sister, Bev. She was very devoted to her sons, Gary and Perry. Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 Noon Monday, February 25, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorials Gardens. Visitation will be 11:00-Noon Monday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
