Sister Marguerite Yezek, BVM (Valerian), 97, of 1050 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Marian Hall. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, in the Marian Hall Chapel. Sharing of Memories will be at 1:15 p.m., followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. Sister Marguerite was an elementary teacher in Davenport and Iowa City, Iowa, and Rock Island, Ill. She ministered as a secondary teacher in Davenport and in Mundelein, Ill.; Saint Paul, Minn.; and Memphis, Tenn. She volunteered for elderly programs in Skokie, Ill. She was born on March 15, 1921, in Manly, Iowa, to Albie & Elsie Chalupnik Yezek. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1938, from Holy Family Parish, Mason City, Iowa. She professed first vows on March 19, 1941, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Florence (Neil) Brown and Sharon (Darrold) Haag. She is survived by a brother Ronald (Charlotte) Yezek, Manly, Iowa; nieces; nephews; and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 80 years.
