Saundra L. “Sandy” Kumpf, 75, of New Columbia, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. Born January 26, 1944, in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas J. and Mary B. (Brant) Hopkins. Sandy was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School and a member of Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg. She was a very accomplished musician and was the pianist and organist for several Williamsport, Lewisburg, and Mifflinburg churches including Lycoming Presbyterian Church, Williamsport, First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, and St. John’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg. Surviving are her three sons, Andrew M. “Drew” Kumpf (Vicki) and Scott H. Kumpf, both of Florida; and Brendon N. Kumpf, of New York; three grandchildren, Alexis, Matthew and Nicholas; a brother, Thomas Marshal Hopkins (Lynne), of Montoursville; a local niece, Amy H. Bolt (Jason), of Williamsport; and several other nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor the life of Saundra will be announced at a later date.
