Obituary for Richard S. Covino Loudonville – Richard Silvester Covino, 93, of Loudonville, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019 in the comfort of his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Born in The Bronx on January 21, 1925, he was the son of the late Mose Covino and Angelina Perrotta Covino. He was last living sibling of eight children and is survived by his wife Mary Covino and his daughter Julia Covino, along with many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews. Richard graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1944 and served until June of 1946. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal and the Victory Medal for his service. Richard went on to graduate from Manhattan College in 1949 with a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering. After his graduation from Manhattan College he began his long career with Lord Electric Company, one of the largest electrical contracting companies in the U.S. In 1969, after it was acquired by Lord Electric, Richard became the President of E.G. May, Inc., an electrical contracting company located in Albany, NY. From 1980 through 1985 he became Executive Vice President of Lord Electric and in 1986 he was promoted to President of Lord Electric. Upon his retirement he continued to enjoy horse racing, taking vacations with his wife and friends, and was active with St. Puis X’s Pastoral Care, transporting parishioners to their doctor appointments. Visitation will be held at St. Puis X Church, Loudonville, NY, Friday, January 11, from 3PM to 5PM and 7PM to 9PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30AM, Saturday, January 12 at St. Puis X Church, Loudonville, NY. Internment will be at St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Valatie, NY.
