Maynard “Ray”‘s Obituary M SGT Maynard “Ray” E. Merrell Jr. Ret, 88, passed away, Tuesday, February, 5th, at his home in Olmsted Falls with his wife Patricia (Hammond) at his side. Born on March 12, 1930, in Mentor, to Maynard Sr. and Bernice Merrell, (Spraggins) Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard and Charles Ray always said he wanted to do three things in his life, be a cowboy, a soldier and a police officer. He did just that. If he wanted to accomplish something, he worked very hard to achieve that goal. Always with a smile on his face and humor in his heart. He was a farm hand, for a horse stable when he was a kid. Retired serving 26 yrs US Army, Korean War Veteran; Retired serving 18 yrs Willoughby Police Dept. 15 yrs investigating for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Ray truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; Joking around with anyone he came in contact with, Enjoyed reminiscing his time spent serving in the army and on the police force to anyone with an ear, and spending time with his family above all else.
