Mary Irene Todd was born in Milton, Florida on February 7, 1920 to her parents Leonard and Margaret Coleman Carter of Oklahoma. In 1935, she met the love of her life, Dewey Todd. They were married April 30, 1938 to this union, four children were born; Josephine Leona Todd Crosby (Deceased), Jesse Dean Todd (Deceased), Belva June Todd Howard and Gail D. Todd Rand. They moved to California in 1941. Mary Irene joined St. James Primitive Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Elder L.O. Higgs and remained a member until her untimely death. She loved the old Baptist Church and use to always say “she did not play when it come to her church”. She and her husband, Dewey loved to travel, attending church associations and other church meetings. They traveled extensively through all the United States except Hawaii and Alaska. Mary Irene was a volunteer at the Dos Palos Skilled Nursing Home for over 20 years. Mary Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Margaret Coleman Carter, her husband of 78 years Dewey Todd, her son, Jesse Dean Todd and her daughter, Josephine Todd Crosby, one sister Sadie Carter Beaird and one brother Booker T. Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughters, Belva June Todd Howard of Los Banos, CA and Gail D. Todd Rand of Oakland, CA, a step son Fredrick Todd of San Diego, CA, sister in law Margie Todd Adams of Ceres, CA, 5 grandsons, Jesse Todd Jr. of Sacramento, CA, Tony Todd of Reno, NV, Leonard Dewey Todd of Bend, OR, John Hodges (Sheryl) of Merced, CA, Chad Rand of Oakland, CA, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, 1 niece Ruby Farmer, who she adored, of Oklahoma City, OK and a host of other special relatives and friends.
