Colter, 74, of Chillicothe, died 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Signature HealthCare of Chillicothe following an extended illness. She was born February 28, 1944, in Chillicothe, Ohio. On May 9, 1961, she married David Colter, Sr. who died April 28, 1992. Surviving are a son, David Colter, Jr., of Chillicothe; a daughter, Ruth Colter, of Columbus; a special friend, Fred Jewell, of Chillicothe; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia (David) Martin, Lavona (Thomas) Moore, of Chillicothe and Shirley (Norris) Brown, all of Chillicothe; a brother, Homer (Layna) Clemmons, of Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Ruth and Homer Clemmons; a daughter, Cheryl Grant; an infant son, Daniel Colter; a brother, Frank Clemmons; and a sister, Sharon K. Conkle. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Lt. Abraham Garrett officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
