Mark E. Budynkiewicz, 59, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at his home in Amherst. Born March 11, 1959, son of the late Thaddeus and Betty Anne (Fry) Budynkiewicz, he lived most of his life in Chicopee. Mark was a graduate of Chicopee High School, Class of 1977 where he played football and basketball on the school’s teams. He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from UMass and played two years on the UMass football team. Mark was a US Navy veteran and a member of the South Deerfield Polish American Citizens Club. He was an avid Patriots, Red Sox, Celtic and Notre Dame football fan. Mark is survived by his brother, John M. Budynkiewicz and wife Paula Marcotte, of Holyoke, sisters, Barbara Bak and husband Richard of Douglas, MA, Diane Grieco and husband Scott of Orleans, MA and Corrine Weill and husband Greg of Newburgh, NY. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Mike Pepin, of San Diego, CA. Calling hours for Mark will be held Wednesday from 11:30AM -12:45PM at Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St. Chicopee with a service in the funeral home at 12:45PM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chicopee Public Library, Emily J. Partyka Central Branch, 449 Front St., Chicopee, MA 01013-3106.
