Lester Allen Revis, age 64, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at his residence. He was born on Monday, August 9, 1954 in McDowell County to the late Ada and N.A. Revis. Lester loved the Lord and talked of all the blessings God had bestowed on him. He loved his family with all his heart and worked hard to provide unselfishly for them. Lester loved people, greeting everyone with a smile. He loved to farm and watch things grow, whether it was a garden, hay fields or cattle. He loved nature, flowers and birds, being fascinated by its beauty. Lester loved coon hunting and listening to the dog’s hunt, he said, was a melodious sound. He loved to watch the Tar Heels & the Atlanta Braves. Lester married in 1979 to Phyllis Cable Revis and had one son, Charles Kelly Revis who was the pride and light of his life. In 2011 Kelly married Melanie Young, and Lester lovingly called her his daughter. In addition to his parents, Lester is preceded in death by parent’s in-law Charles and Melba Cable; and nine siblings, Ray, Carl, James, Ron, Jonas, Gladys, Roxie, Terrie, and Joyce and Bill Sluder. Left to cherish Lester’s memory are his loving wife, Phyllis; and his son, Kelly and his wife Melanie. He also leaves behind eight siblings, Lois, Grace, Ester, Howard, Bobby, Charles, Ray Lee, and Wiley. Lester was so proud of coming from such a large family of which he was the youngest with his twin sister. Lester believed that his word was his bond and tried to live by that. Lester will surely be missed. Please pray for his family now, and in the future. A funeral service to honor Lester’s life will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Reverends Jimmy Upton, Bill Mitchell, and Danny Ledford officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
