Obituary for Karissa Jordan Stewart Karissa Jordan Stewart, 43, of Pace, Florida, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Karissa was a native of Jay, Florida, and was the oldest child of Billy and Carol Jordan. Karissa was a graduate of Jay High School and the University of West Florida. Karissa was an elementary art teacher for Santa Rosa County, Florida, and began her teaching career at East Milton Elementary School. Some years later when Santa Rosa County Florida built the new school, Bennett C. Russell Elementary School, she became one of the first teachers and finished her teaching career there. She taught school for twenty and a half years. Karissa was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jay, Florida. Karissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Hubert Cleatious Smith and Mary Stewart Smith; and her paternal grandfather, William James Jordan. Karissa is survived by her husband, Trenton Ashley Stewart; her sons, Seth Allen Stewart and Samuel James Stewart of Pace, Florida; her parents Billy Rufus and Carol (Smith) Jordan of Jay, Florida; her father-in-love and mother-in-love, David Carlton and Vicki (Berrian) Wolfe of Milton, Florida; her sister, Shaena Jordan Saxton; her brother and sister-in-love, Brent William and Mindy (Cassevah) Jordan; brother- in- love, Brock Landon Stewart; two nieces, Valarie Godwin and Kendall Jordan; four nephews, Blake Saxton, Mathew Saxton, Mason Jordan, and Solan Jordan, all of Jay, Florida; her grandmother, Elvia Louise Jordan of Jay, Florida; uncles, Dr. Cleatious David Smith (Katherine McLeod Smith) and Kenneth David Jordan (Teresa Brunson Jordan), both of Jay, Florida; two aunts, Patricia Smith Thompson of Jay, Florida and Tina Smith Morton( Dana Morton) of Pace, Florida; and many great-uncles, great-aunts, and numerous cousins and great friends. Funeral Services for Karissa Stewart will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Jay with Dr. George L. Fredericks, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow services in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the services. The Family wishes to thank Dr. C. David Smith, Dr. John Stewart Michael Smith, Emerald Coast Hospice and the nurses and staff at Jay Hospital for the love and care extended to Karissa. Also, thank you to the Bennett C. Russell school family, Stewart Strong Prayer Warriors, and our precious family and friends for your love, prayers and support. We cannot express the deep appreciation we have for the “Pilots For Christ” for bringing Karissa home to be with her children and family.
