Joseph McDaniel, Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Joe was born January 3, 1943 in Sampson County, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra McDaniel; his father, Fernie McDaniel who was killed in WWII; his parents, Hettie Wise and Clarence Wise. Joe retired from the State of North Carolina as a prison guard. He spent 25 years as a Driver’s License Examiner in Cumberland County, NC. Joe took pride in being a deacon for 40 plus years at Lebanon Baptist Church and loved his church family dearly. He also considered it an honor to teach Sunday School at Bethesda Nursing Home for 35 plus years. Joe loved to sing and cherished his years in the choir. After he retired from the state, Joe found pleasure in doing woodworking and attending craft shows. Joe never met a stranger and always wanted to help others. Left to cherish his memories are his son, Joe McDaniel, Jr. and wife, Lyn; two grandsons, Noah McDaniel and Mark McDaniel all of Fayetteville; and his brothers, Charles McDaniel and wife, Faith and Danny Wise and wife, Linda, all of Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm Friday, February 22, 2019 at Lebanon Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 4 pm with Dr. John Campbell officiating. Burial take place immediately following the service in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lebanon Baptist Church Building Fund.
