Jessie’s Obituary Jessie Kelley Riddick, 93, of 478 Sandy Cross Road, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019, in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. Riddick was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Sonnie Burl and Lonford Blanchard Kelley. A homemaker, she was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Riddick; her sister, Clara Umphlett; and by brothers, Carl, Melford, and Merrill Kelley. Surviving are her children, Denise Riddick, James Ronnie Riddick, and Stacey Riddick and wife, Karen, all of Hobbsville, and Grayling Riddick of Elizabeth City; four grandchildren, Brooke Casper and husband, Travis, Whitney Ryan and husband, Chris, Daniel Riddick, and Davis Riddick; three great-grandchildren, Haley Casper, Hattie Casper, and Hunter Ryan; and her special friend and caregiver, Melody Stark; and by nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Sandy Cross Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Gary Nistler. Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the service, and other times at Stacey and Karen’s home, 513 Sandy Cross Road, Hobbsville. A private burial will be in the Riddick Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandy Cross Baptist Church, in care of Barbara Jones, 498 Acorn Hill Road, Sunbury, NC 27979.
