Clayton, NC: Mr. Jasper Vernon Martin, age 79, died Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Laurels of Forest Glen in Garner. Graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery. Pastor Tim Williford, Sr. will officiate. Mr. Martin was born on June 4, 1939 in Harnett County to the late Willis and Evia Capps Martin. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Tew and Iver Ryan and brothers, Luther Martin, Paul Byrd and Arthur Martin. Mr. Martin was a retired farmer. Surviving include his sister, Shirley Upchurch of Clayton; brother, James Martin of Raleigh and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM-2:30 PM prior to the graveside service on Thursday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC.
