Jack Poole, 93, of Harkers Island, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, at his home. His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Manley Rose, Jr. Mr. Poole honorably served our country in both the United States Army and the United States Navy and fought in World War II as well as the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his son-in-law, Doug Johnson of Harkers Island; sister, Patricia Shriver of Maryland; grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson of Beaufort, Dean Johnson of Harkers Island; and great-grandchildren, Chaeli Smith and Courtney Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Raye Poole; daughter, Beverly Johnson; parents, Thomas and Mary Poole; sisters, Mary McLean and Dorothy Barrow; and brothers, Tom Poole, Jr., Bob Poole and Bill Poole. Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Down East Meals on Wheels at 1536 Harkers Island Road, Beaufort, 28516.
