Elizabeth Alice Bayse, 101, of Evergreen, Colorado, formerly of Newton, died on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at her step-daughter’s home in Evergreen. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 1, at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials to Convoy of Hope may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Elizabeth, the daughter of Jesse and Ida Faye (Ratcliff) Ferguson, was born on December 9, 1917, in New Sharon. She moved to Newton at the age of seven and later graduated from Newton High School. After high school, Elizabeth graduated from North Central Bible Institute in Minnesota and then served in the Northwest United States assisting and encouraging new churches. She later returned to Newton where she worked at the Newton Manufacturing Company. Elizabeth was united in marriage with Howard Bayse on July 5, 1956 and became a homemaker raising Howard’s five daughters. After Howard’s retirement, they moved to Arkansas and then to Bolivar, Missouri where they would make their home for a number of years. Elizabeth was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Bolivar and they enjoyed spending time traveling. Following Howard’s death, Elizabeth moved to live with her step-daughter, Wanda, first in Texas and most recently in Colorado. Her entire life Elizabeth had a heart for Christian missions, volunteer work, and living as a Christian example. Elizabeth is survived by her step-daughters, Janice Joggerst of Coconut Creek, Florida, Wanda (David) Cartwright of Evergreen, Colorado, and Barbara (Torulf) Holmberg of Sweden; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Esther Pence of Elk Grove, California; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; two step-daughters, Ruth Rodriguez and Virginia Etten; three great-grandchildren; and her three brothers, Joe, Lyle, and Robert Ferguson.
