Edith Rollins Teague December 16 1931 February 23 2019 (age 87)

Edith Rollins Teague, a resident of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, February 23rd at the age of 87 years old. She left this earth peacefully under the comfort of a quilt that she made with her own hands. Edith was born on December 16, 1931 in Central Falls, NC (near Asheboro). She arrived at 10:15 in the morning and liked to say that she got here in time for lunch and never missed a meal since. She graduated from Asheboro High School in 1950. She received a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude from High Point College in 1954. Upon graduation, she began a teaching career at Ramseur High School. Later, after a move to Winston-Salem she continued teaching Commercial Business Courses at both Gray and Parkland High Schools. She was loved and respected by her students. Edith married William Teague in 1962. She continued to teach a few years and then retired to be a homemaker. She enjoyed a wonderful marriage for almost 20 years before William passed away, following a lengthy battle with cancer. The Teague family continued to keep Edith close as they would drive to Winston-Salem, pick her up and take her to celebrate many family holiday and birthday gatherings. Edith embraced life to the fullest! She enjoyed traveling and was proud to say she had traveled to every state in the nation and every continent. She had many friends and enjoyed social activities with the Red Hat Society and playing bridge weekly with her bridge club. She loved birds as evidenced by the many bird feeders she kept in her yard. She loved reading, plants, and gardening. She did not pass up an opportunity to learn something new. Of all of her skills and talents, she took much pride in her love of all kinds of needle crafts. Edith was passionate about sewing, knitting, quilting and anything that required skill with a needle. She was very particular and had high standards. All of the needlecrafts that she created were meticulous and perfect! She was never one to sit around and be bored. In her spare time, she produced hundreds of garments, quilts, knitted socks, and more, usually to benefit someone she cared for. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Rollins and Sarah Gregson Rollins; husband, Charles William Teague; brother, Howard Rollins; and niece, Ellen Teague Funkhouser. She will be greatly missed by her nephew, Jim Rollins (Linda); nieces Susan Teague-Ledford (Alice) and Taran Teague (Bruce Bingman). Edith had no biological children but enjoyed a family-like relationship with Lamar & Diana Davis and their children, Caroline and Gordon. When the children were born, Edith asked to be the local grandmother known as “Trey”. A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Forsyth Memorial Park (3771 Yadkinville Rd., Winston-Salem), with Rev.
