Dorothy J. ‘Dot’ McCarty, 64, of Altamont died at 2:36 a.m., Sunday, September 30, 2018 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Fr. Christudasan Kurisadima officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at St. Clare Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the Meals-On-Wheels or The Whoo Hoo Sisterhood, both of Altamont or… Fear Nothing, Effingham. Dorothy June was born on Friday, May 21, 1954 in St. Elmo, IL to Mark A. and Barbara (Ledbetter) Golden. During her working career she had been employed with Stuckey’s Carriage Inn, Altamont and Martin’s IGA, Effingham. She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont. Dot enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Gerald A. (Melissa) Reed, Strasburg; grandchildren, Kaleene Reed, Altamont, Zachary, Mackenzie, and Paige Reed, all of Strasburg; great grandchildren, Bentley, Adrian, Amelia and Maverick King and Shae Vonderheide.
