David N. Francis of Menominee, Michigan died peacefully at his home on February 17, 2019. Dave was born to Nell Place Francis and Nelson Francis on August 26, 1924 in Menominee. He was raised in Janesville, WI. He entered the Navy in 1943 upon graduation from high school and served on a ship in the Pacific as a Sonar Man 3rd Class. Following the Navy, he went to college at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. After graduation in 1949, he began his career as a salesman with The Ansul Company and rose to the position of Senior VP before retiring. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Francis, his wife Jane R. Francis, and his grandson Scott F. Cooley. He is survived by his loving partner of almost 30 years, Ann Caley, and his four children, Sara Saver (Dan), Bill Francis (Kristi), Betsy Wietor (Bob Hill), and Susan Barker (George). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Michael Cooley, David Wietor, Ashley Wietor Schoonover, Lauren Wietor Justice, and Katherine Francis, two great grandchildren, his brother-in-law Rick Reading, and several nieces and a nephew. Dave and Ann had spent the previous two decades dividing their time between Menominee and Florida, and they enjoyed their groups of friends at each location. In addition to Ann, Dave’s great loves were golf, woodworking, reading, landscaping, puttering, and his ubiquitous 5 o’clock cocktail, not necessarily in that order. The family would like to thank Darlene McLeod, his private nurse for the last eight months, and Janet and Stacy of UP Health for their dedication and support of our dad. A memorial service will follow at a later date. Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home is assisting the family. To plant a tree in memory of David Francis, please visit our Tribute Store.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David N Francis 2019.
