Obituary Elizabeth “Betty” Gieseke, 92, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at Oak Lawn Nursing Home in Mankato. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier’s Rest section with her husband Bill. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is assisting the family with the arrangements. To leave an online condolence for her family or to sign the guest book go to www.mvfh.org She is survived by her three children, Kathleen (Gary) Rubey, Bruce (Sara) Gieseke, Paul Gieseke; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Janice Wolf; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Herbert and Elsie Gruber; sister, Joanne Fluegge; and brother, Donald Gruber. Betty was born February 5, 1930 in Gibbon to Herbert and Elsie (Preisinger) Gruber. She married William C. Gieseke February 28, 1950. They farmed her family farm near Klossner for over 40 years. Betty was a hard-working farming wife and housewife. In 1993, Bill built her a new house in New Ulm. They bowled in couples bowling leagues for many years.
