William Hudson September 13 1916 – January 17 2019

Obituary for William Hudson Print William C Hudson, 102, of Wellesley passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia the son of the late Albert and Emily (Davis) Hudson. One of 8 children he enjoyed his childhood and the sibling camaraderie – still enjoying his sister Pearl’s phone calls from Alabama until the very end. He married Marion (Knights) and together they had three children. He lived on Patton Road for 65 years and eventually sold his home to his backyard neighbor’s son. He served in the Marines and worked for many years at Coca-Cola, then going to work for the school system in the Town of Wellesley. He retired from there and was able to focus on his golf game. He was a proud member of the Nehoiden Golf club from 1948 until 2008. He leaves behind his sister Pearl (Don) Barley of Hoover, AL and his daughter, Barbara McCray of Enfield, CT. He was “PaPu” (grandfather) to Steve (Sharon) McCray of East Windsor, CT; Debra Byrne of Plymouth, MA; Jennifer Hudson Wuorio of Woonsocket, RI; Amy Hudson Stracuzzi of Woonsocket, RI and Tom (Gina) McCray of Suffield, CT. There are numerous great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter – Kiri – who he was overjoyed to spend time with. Besides his wife Marion, he was predeceased by his sons, William and Jack, his son-in-law, Grant McCray, grandchildren Billy McCray and Brian Hudson and 6 siblings. One of the biggest blessings for him was the over 20 year relationship with his girlfriend Ann Cunningham of Wellesley Hills who shared her home with him the last few years – thank you Ann for being there! We would also like to thank Alex, Josephine and Vida whose care taking allowed him to be in that home for the last two years. In one last act of selflessness he donated himself for the education, research and the advancement of medical science to the Harvard Medical School (congratulations you were accepted!). There will be a memorial service held at the Wellesley Congregational Village Church on Friday, February 8 th at 1pm.
