Viola “Vicky” Van Jura July 03, 1925 – January 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Viola “Vicky” Van Jura (nee Landolfi) of Hasbrouck Heights passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019. She was 93 years old. Vicky was born in Jersey City on July 3, 1925 to Maria and Orlando Landolfi. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill Van Jura and adoring grandson Michael Van Jura. She leaves behind and will be deeply missed by her son Bill Van Jura and his wife Kathy of Hasbrouck Heights and Michael and his wife Mary Frances of Keyport. Vicky will be greatly missed by her grandchildren whom she showered with love and attention. Billy and his wife Tina of Poughkeepsie, NY., Christopher of Washington, D.C., Veronica of Worcester, Massachusetts and Scott Van Jura of Keyport. “Gigi” also leaves behind 8 great grandchildren; Kaya, Lennon, Maeve, John, Shane, Dillon, Haylena Rose and Logan. Vicky is predeceased by her sisters, Jean Moretti, Marge Cocciardi and Rose Nacion. She leaves behind her sister Mary Worster. Vicky was a member of the “Landolfi Sisters”, a raucous, loving and deeply devoted group of women who were beloved by all their children and nieces and nephews. As a young woman, Vicky was a switchboard operator for “Ma Bell”. As a young married couple she and her husband Bill owned Goose’s Deli in Jersey City and when they moved to Hasbrouck Heights owned and operated Hills Deli and Liquor Store in Lodi. Hills became a neighborhood staple for the families living on Union Street. For the years before her retirement Vicky worked as a sales associate at Sears, Hackensack. She drew great happiness from assisting customers in finding just the right outfit for any occasion. She had a gift for coordinating colors and decorating was one of her passions. Later in life, Vicky discovered that she had a talent for painting and spent many hours pursuing this love. Vicky will most be remembered for the boundless love that she gave her family through the endless meals she cooked and shared with them. Everyone was always well fed when you visited her home. She was a member of the Leisure Club, the Ladies Auxiliaries of the American Legion Post 106 and the V.F.W. Post 4591 all in Hasbrouck Heights. Funeral Liturgy at Corpus Christi R.C. Church Hasbrouck Heights on Thursday, January 31st at 10 AM. (All to meet at church). Entombment following at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visitation Wednesday, January 30th from 4-8 PM at Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars would be appreciated.
