Thomas L. Matheis, 84 of Hamilton has been accepted into God’s loving embrace on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Capital Health Regional Hospital of Hopewell surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, NJ, Thomas had been a life-long area resident. After proudly serving in the United States Army. Thomas started working with Union Camp and retired after dedicating 41 years. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement going to Florida during the winter months and taking in the warm weather and relaxation. Thomas enjoyed playing Pinochle and woodworking projects. The most joy in his life was spending quality time with his wife Mary Jane Matheis of over 60 years, especially at the beach. Tom enjoyed walking the beaches, collecting sea shells, and searching for treasures with his metal detector. Thomas always made time to give back to his community and church. He was a long time parishioner of Saint Mark United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and helped with lawn maintenance for over 25 years. He volunteered numerous hours to Habitat for Humanity. He also enjoyed bike riding, Left to cherish his wonderful memory is his loving wife Mary Jane Matheis, caring children; Mary Lynn Poole (Kenneth), Michael Matheis, Jim Matheis, and Donna Matheis (Sergio Moschitti), as well as two amazing granddaughters, Jennifer and Madison Poole. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019, 11:00am at St. Mark United Methodist Church located at 465 Paxson Avenue, Hamilton Square NJ 08690. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to be made in his honor to St. Mark UMC or Habitat for Humanity.
